SAPS provides engaging internship chances in various divisions for motivated individuals looking for hands-on experience in law enforcement, criminal justice, administration, and support services. Intern categories with minimum requirements:
Graduate Intern: Requires a Tertiary Qualification with an attached Statement of Results.
Student Intern: Requires practical experience mandated by the Tertiary Institution for qualification completion (letter from the institution not older than two years must be attached).
Responsibilities
- Work with department teams to aid in daily activities and initiatives.
- Help with research, analysis, and data gathering on law enforcement and criminal justice topics.
- Take part in administrative duties like filing, documenting, and maintaining records.
- Observe and gain knowledge from seasoned experts in your preferred field.
- Play a role in creating and executing projects to improve community safety.
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and seminars to expand your expertise.
- Follow SAPS policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines consistently.
Requirements
- South African citizenship required.
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Interest in law enforcement, criminal justice, administration, or related areas.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective in independent and team work.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work setting.

Additional Requirements:
- Hold a Degree or Diploma in Information Technology listed on the National Learner Record Database (NLRD) at NQF6 level or above.
Core Functions:
- Aid in the re-registration and re-activation of users on Mainframe Systems and Administration Systems. Provide initial support to resolve issues reported to the Call Centre.

Additional qualifications

- Record, monitor, escalate, communicate, and resolve Incidents and Service requests.
- Prioritize calls for swift responses to urgent concerns.
- Administer ICT Service Desk duties, including receiving and processing access request forms.
- Escalate unresolved issues to second-line support.
- Follow up with Users and second-line support to ensure timely resolution of user problems.
- Monitor incidents/requests based on priority.
- Ensure relevant information is captured from second-line support for logged calls.
- Conduct functional user acceptance/System testing with supervision to verify application functionality.
- Offer guidance or training to users on eTEL System functionality for optimal application performance.
- Maintain filing system for the section.
- Provide Information Support to clients and supervisors.

Functions
- Support in the Installation, Testing, Maintenance, and Refurbishment of Radio Communications Equipment, Two-way radios in vehicles, building infrastructure sites, Microwave Network Installations, Radio communications Infrastructure, Radio Towers, and radio communication shelters, Radio Antenna installations (working at heights).
- Additionally, Diesel and solar power installations, Radio Site Security installations including Alarm systems, Electric fences, CCTV Systems, CCTV Cameras, CCTV Cabling Systems, and Video Storage System.
